Careers and Employability 2016

On Wednesday 10th February 2016, the Westminster Nutrition Society (WNS) hosted an annual Careers and Employability Event at Cavendish Campus. The purpose of the afternoon was for students (and academics) to have the opportunity to hear from professionals in the field. Six guest speakers across the nutrition field were invited to speak about their journeys to their current roles.

Speakers:
1.    Mark Hollingsworth, CEO at The Nutrition Society
2.    Georgia Puckett, Public Health Nutritionist
3.    Bernadette Heapy, Alumna and now a Health Advisor at Bupa
4.    Richard Marshall, Senior Lecturer in Food Enterprise at Bath Spa University
5.    Melissa Mogor, Alumna and now a Weight Management Programme Leader
6.    Emily Hockenhull, Alumna and now work at Action Against Hunger

The event was well attended by students mainly on the Human Nutrition and Human and Nutrition (Exercise Sciences) degree pathways. Students attended enjoyed the very informative and inspirational afternoon, as many opportunities available were discussed.

On behalf of the Westminster Nutrition Society, I would like to thank all our guest speakers for given up their time to talk to us this afternoon. Thank you also to Professor Annie Bligh, Head of Life Science Department for sponsoring our event. Thank you to Dr Ihab Tewfik and the Nutrition teaching team for their continuous support in the Westminster Nutrition Society. Lastly, thank you to all students for attending and help share this amazing experience. I am sure we all agree that listening to professionals helps inspire and motivate us in our studies.
